Ooh, spikey. I wouldn't want to catch that on my arm as I went past ... Nice photo.

I love the red in the background. Nice sharp photo. Mind posting a 100% crop from the original so I can check out the detail from the 100 2.8 macro I've had my eye on? :)

Thanks for the comments! Andy... sure! I'll e-mail you a crop so I don't use up my Typepad disk space. :)

amazing what there is to see if you look close enough! And something special about the way you "frame" the beauty in the world too!

Delicacy and danger, all in one.
Really nice shot!

I really like the focus on this shot (the colours are great too.) Nice work.

I'm a complete newbie to photography and I was just curious how you shoot your macros. In other words, are they handheld? I have a tough time getting any macro shots in focus and don't know if it's my camera movement or something more technical. Just curious.

Great shot, Charlie. Really nice colors and focus. Very original and very alien-looking!

SOOO sharp yet SOOOO soft !!!! SOOO blurry and yet SOOOO crisp. Full of contrasts. This is a fantastic shot. Beautiful composition. Beautiful contrast between the mostly warm background and cool colored foreground. Great DOF. I love the idea of taking something so small and making it monumental.

I really love these two macro shots because they almost cease being photographs. They make the familiar strange and the strange familiar. Nice.

love the way the background moves to take over the cactus at times - very powerful outline of plant that links the marvellous colours
