Always Curious turns one year old today ... || Canon 10D, EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM

Well, it actually happened! Always Curious officially turns one year old today! There are some shots in the April 2004 archive, but those were posted later to accomodate my overzealous enthusiasm for participating in every photo meme at the time. But May 16, 2004 is the day I actually started this blog by posting this shot.

Since that time, I've truly posted one photo a day without fail and without interruption for 365 days. This is a personal record for me, since I am always curious and have a devilishly short attention span for any hobby I start.

I just want to thank you for visiting my photoblog and leaving your encouraging comments - if this is your first visit, welcome and thank you as well. The credit for my persistence really goes out to each and every one of you. You've complimented my photos, challenged me when the photos needed improvement, and continued to provide the support and guidance that I so desperately needed. And an extra large thanks goes out to everyone in the Photoblogs.org community... there's such a wonderful group of people there and so many amazing Photoblogs, that it's exhausting. I've met some incredible people who've provided me with inspiration, hope and even, in some cases, friendship, making the journey even more spectacular than I could have ever hoped.

Looking back at my first shots, I really think that my photography did improve, although I still have a long way to go, so this simply marks the start of a new year. I was hoping to do something more ambitious and memorable to celebrate this event, but instead, I'll just leave you with this simple photo of a world captured inside a drop of water to mark the occasion... quietly and uneventfully just as Always Curious began.

I'm relatively new here, but your photoblog has really inspired me. I have a long, long way to go toward improving my shots, but I learn something by looking at others' photos, and yours always have something interesting to offer. Thanks, and congratulations!

Well, Valerie beat me to the Beatles reference :-)
Congrats on Year One, Charlie! Your perpetually fine work has certainly served to make me always curious about what's going on here, and I blame all your great macro work for my extra spending on a macro lens :-P Looking forward to Year Two (you KNOW you have it in ya) and the hopes that you remain as curious as always!

Congratulations Charlie. I've enjoyed the journey along with you and look forward to another year of wonderment, and delightful surprises through your macro lens. This is indeed a milestone to be proud of as your work shows incredible professionalism and creativity.

congrats Charlie. this is a lovely image to mark the occasion with.. wonderful reflection in that drop and the narrow DOF emphasises it.

Congrats! Great shot...the title fits both the photo and the occasion. Love the clarity.

Congratulations Charlie! It is interesting that the effect by the drop looks like the lens. Great!

Congratulations on the dailies for an entire year. I've only been at it for a few months now, but can understand that it's tough to post so many photos! I rarely comment on photoblogs, but always enjoying yours. Thanks for sharing!
