Building a Brand to Match Engineering Excellence
Repositioning Global Precision to reflect its role as a mission-critical manufacturer for aerospace, defense, space, and emerging technologies
ENGAGEMENT AT A GLANCE
Client
G.S. Precision, Inc., now operating as Global Precision
Challenge
A 1958 name and independent division websites that undersold a five-division, four-country mission-critical platform.
Approach
Three phases: vision refinement, brand system definition, and end-to-end implementation across digital and operational touchpoints.
Key Results
A unified platform brand launched to the industry at the Farnborough International Airshow and maintained by a self-serve Brand Kit.
INDUSTRY CONTEXT
Aerospace, defense, space, and emerging technologies all run on the short list of manufacturers who make each mission possible. These are deeply technical partners operating where failure is not an option; as those industries innovate, a manufacturer’s public presence has to carry the same precision as its parts.
Global Precision had that foundation: innovation, quality, and an unshakeable commitment to its customers, held since 1958.
THE CHALLENGE
Founded in Wilmington, Vermont in 1958, G.S. Precision grew from one shop into a globally connected platform serving aerospace, defense, space, and emerging technologies; however, its name and brand image still belonged to the shop.
Growth had come from both directions — organic expansion and acquisition. F.T. Gearing Systems in the U.K., SMC Aerospace in New Hampshire, Knappe & Koester in New Hampshire, Lush Heat Treatment in the U.K., and the in-house launch of G.S.P. Coatings. Each carried its own site and its own story. There was no single place a customer, a recruit, or an acquisition target could see the whole capability, and there was no shared mission holding five divisions together.
OUR APPROACH
Align
GSP’s leadership didn’t come to us looking for a vision. They came with one. Our work was to pressure-test and refine that vision to ensure the brand they were reaching for carried the weight of what they had built since 1958, not just the ambition of where they were headed. From there, alignment was the CEO’s to win. He took the refined direction to the board and the private equity ownership group, and he came back with every stakeholder’s confidence and conviction.
Define
We defined a system rather than producing a simple artifact. Naming architecture, division nomenclature, trademark clearance, color and typography rules, a brand voice framework with an explicit vocabulary of what Global Precision would and would not say, and asset specs that hold up in a board room, a spec sheet, and a browser tab. GSP is an active acquirer, so the system has to hold for divisions that don’t exist yet; we understand every division that follows will need to inherit these rules instead of renegotiating them.
Execute
We shipped the platform site, the brand asset library, and division pages for all five divisions against a hard external deadline, the Farnborough International Airshow. Then we deployed a custom Brand Kit generator so any employee can self-service to produce on-brand email signatures, business cards, and virtual backgrounds because it is critical that the correct version is also the most easily accessible.
THE OUTCOME
Global Precision’s partners already knew the engineering. Now customers, recruits, and acquisition targets can see the full platform from first contact.
5 divisions
1 brand
Engineered Products, Thermal Treatment, Precision Gears, Advanced Coatings, and Tubing Technologies, under one platform brand.
3 continents
1 footprint
The U.S., Mexico, the U.K. and India presented as one integrated footprint.
3 sites
1 unified site
Independent division websites consolidated into a single platform site with a mapped redirect strategy.
1 Brand Kit
A custom generator keeping assets on-brand while also self-service.
The rebrand was introduced to the industry at the Farnborough International Airshow, where Global Precision was presented for the first time as a unified, globally connected manufacturing platform rather than a collection of suppliers.
LOOKING AHEAD
Global Precision is built to scale, and their new digital ecosystem removes the friction between their engineering excellence and their market presence.
That matters most where the company is headed. Global Precision is positioned as a platform, not a single manufacturer. Platforms are judged by acquirers, customers, and talent on whether the whole reads as one company. As they integrate new divisions and move further into emerging technologies, the brand architecture acts as an accelerant rather than a bottleneck: every acquisition and expansion backed by an identity that is instantly recognizable and rigorously consistent.
ABOUT ALWAYS CURIOUS
